These are the Choctaw Indians who lived in what is known today as the Crosby Estates.
Local legend endures that at the confluence of creeks, spirits arise.
The man seated in the photo is Chief Muchihira, who followed Chief Hobolo as the leader of the Choctaw settlement where the East and West Hobolichitto Creeks converge.
Any idea when that photo was taken? I just found this blog and am curious about local history.

ReplyDeleteThe Hobolochitto was setteled by Oklapisa and houma native choctaw groups...today-these peoples live in Bayou Lacombe louisiana above lake ponchartraine

This groups' earlier Chief Muchimara sold to Frenchman Jarrell. They moved to Bayou LaCombe.
